Jidu
24 June – 19 July
‘Jidu’ originated from some recently found photography taken by my great aunt when travelling overseas with my great grandparents in 1958. George and Marie Hamra immigrated from Lebanon shortly after the First World War, settling in Adelaide. These images depict their travels around the world with two of their daughters, as they made their way to Batroun, Lebanon some 35 years after leaving. The process of painting my extended family in postcard format has given me my own unexpected journey through a time in their lives, ultimately connecting me closer to them.
